Tom Madden head of the metals program at The College of Creative Studies, CCS. Learn the characteristics and working qualities of pewter. Surface design can be achieved many ways with pewter....Embossing is just one of the many ways to create your design in pewter.
This class will focus on fabricating pewter. We will begin with Sheet of metal. Cutting and forming come next.Then assembling, soldering and finishing. There are many things that you can construct, from big to little. Everone will have a 12" x 12" 14 ga. piece of metal to start with. You can decide what you want to make. One choice is to make a serving utensil (spoon, fork or knife.)$220
We will also have a demo of casting pewter and something called "The balogna sandwitch."

We are using float glass with a dichroic finish. This glass has a different look from the regular 90 or 96 coe. Learn the newest look in dichroic glass jewelry just in time for spring. They will be fused and read to pick up in 72 hours.. Finishing techniques will be discussed in class. You should be aable to make 1 pendant, 1 necklace, and 2 pair of earrings. Findings will be included in the kit.
